Bonny’s Vineyard Oakville

Incorporated into the view across the valley from Miner’s front terrace, Bonny’s Vineyard is one of Oakville’s historic sites. Its three original acres were planted in 1974 by the legendary vintner-grower, Justin Meyer. Gravelly soil surrounding the nearby Conn Creek has a strong influence on Bonny’s Cabernet Sauvignon, along with the diurnal temperature shifts from day to night.

Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon

Planted: 1974

Owner/Farmer: Matt Meyer

Soil: Clear Lake series, gravelly sandy loam.

Site/Climate: Temperate Mediterranean climate, mainly due to Oakville’s transitional, mid-valley location between the cooler, southern end of Napa Valley and the warmer parts approaching St. Helena. Morning fog from San Pablo Bay is able to reach Oakville, while the full afternoon sun provides for ideal ripening conditions.
