Gibson Ranch Vineyard Mendocino

Third generation grower Bob Gibson organically farms and hand-harvests his family’s ranch in Hopland. Two hours north of Napa, Mendocino County’s cooler coastal climate provides the longer hang time needed for this native Italian varietal to properly ripen. Sangiovese is made in two distinct styles at Miner—as an approachable, dry red wine and as a fresh and fruity, dry rosé called Rosato.

Varietals: Sangiovese

Planted: 1994 / 2000 (we get blocks 3 and 6)

Owner/Farmer: Bob Gibson

Soil: Feliz loam & Feliz clay

Site/Climate: Inland and higher elevation means warmer days and colder nights than Napa
