Michelle ShafrirWinemaker

Name: Michelle Shafrir
Hometown: Albany, CA
Been at Miner since: August 2017
Why the wine industry? Because I love nature, science and art, and wine is all of those things. Winemaking follows the rhythm of the seasons and requires a harmony of geography, ecology, climate, plant physiology, edaphology, microbiology and chemistry. It’s wonderful to always be learning something new.
Favorite part of your job: Working with such a hardworking and close-knit crew. I consider myself very lucky to be a part of the Miner team, everyone here takes great pride in their work and we have a great time together.
Last meal? Like if I never got to eat ever again? I’d be happy with a buckwheat crepe with sauteed mushrooms, spinach, and cave aged Gruyère, with a glass of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Little known fact about you: I have a resting heart rate of 55 beats/minute.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be? Levitation
You love: The ocean, redwood forests, fog, wildflowers.
You hate: Hot parking lots.
Hidden talent: I’m an excellent baker.
Favorite wine/varietal: Anything from ChâteauneufduPape.
You’re a die hard: Flamenco fan.
