What We’re Drinking This Week: Napa Valley Chardonnay

NVChard_novintageIn anticipation of the St. Patrick’s Day holiday, we are mapping out what we’re going to be eating and drinking here on the Miner team. As much as we love a good green beer, we’re going in a more purist direction and celebrating the holiday with our crowd-pleasing Napa Valley Chardonnay.

Tasting notes: Sourced from low-yielding vineyards in Napa Valley, our chardonnay is characterized by crisp apple, ripe melon and citrus flavors gently balanced with toasty French Oak. Our winemaker uses malolactic fermentation in moderation to retain the wine’s bright acidity. More than a decade after chardonnay put us on the map, this wine remains a classic.

Blend: 99.9% Chardonnay; .1% smiles

Occasion to consume: Any and all holidays, cold and rainy days, warm and sunny afternoons (or mornings), or really anytime you need pure joy in a glass.

Food pairings: Chardonnay can be surprisingly hard to pair with food, but for St. Paddy’s Day, we’re going to try Pan-fried salmon with citrus vinaigrette from our friends at Food and Wine. And most likely some sour cream and onion potato chips. Who are we kidding?
