The weather has been dramatically warmer than usual here in the Napa Valley, which is putting us in the mood for a full glass of something light and crisp with a little bit of body. This week, we’ve been enjoying our 2014 Viognier. Viognier is a nice way to switch things up if your go-to is Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay, and it pairs wonderfully with a sunset or a relaxing soak in the tub (or both if you’re starring in a Cialis commercial).
Tasting Notes: Aromatically complex with citrus and honeysuckle notes on the nose and a plush feel on the palate, our Viognier consistently displays a fine balance of neutral acidity and intense concentration. This quintessential food wine was whole-cluster pressed and stainless steel fermented to allow the vibrant, tropical and stone fruit characteristics of this varietal to shine.
Blend: 98% Viognier, 1% hugs, 1% back rubs
Occasion to Consume: Day trips to the Sonoma Coast, reclined on a hammock, when you need to unleash crazy dance moves, or confronting family members.
Food Pairing: We love Viognier with rich seafood, or salty cured meat. Try it with this recipe for Viognier-Steamed Clams with Parsnips and Bacon, or Kraft Mac & Cheese with Hot Dogs. Seriously.
